Whimsical Tables

After we released Whimsical Docs, users started requesting tables. There's a lot of different ways we could implement this feature, but after talking with some users, it seemed clear that they were looking for something basic: more presentational than programmatic. We leaned into this by allowing users to create tables which contained a variety of blocks and formatting options.

The default state.

When focused, a ribbon appears around the perimeter. This provides access to table formatting and settings.

Within a cell, users can add a variety of different block types.

I also concepted a "table painter" which lets you quickly add a table containing rows and columns.
